Golf in Antalya
The golf season in Antalya begins in October when most golf regions are winding down for the off season. Antalya is one of the few places where golf can be played right through the winter, in short sleeves.
Gloria Golf Club

In fact the club requires a compulsory handicap of 28 for men and 36 for women to be able to play the course, which also offers a 5 star resort.

Nobilis Golf Club

National Golf Club
6232-meter par 72 Driving range, putting green, chipping green, full golf academy. Designed by European Ryder cup player David Feherty, and completed in 1994, National Golf Club is probably Turkey's most famous. Each hole is unique and derived from David's experience on the PGA tour and has won recent international acclaim. It was ranked 39th for European mainland golf courses in 2001 by the UK's Golf World Magazine and has hosted several international tournaments. . Welcome to one of the oldest holiday resorts in the world - what else can you say about the place where legend says that Cleopatra bathed in the sea with Mark Anthony! The old town of Side is a joy with the ancient roman ruins mixed in between bars, restaurants and shops. The main area of the town is pedestrianised and it's a wonderful place to visit in the early evening to window shop, buy some bargains, have a drink or grab a bite to eat. It has a great atmosphere but it can get busy in the height of the season.
The ruins of the ancient city mingle with the new, and despite its development as a resort, it retains its own very special atmosphere and charm.
Its impressive second century theatre, supported by arched vaults, offers fine views towards the sea and you can still see the remains of an ancient street lined with pillars and arcades and the market place where slaves were once sold. Nearby the Agora Baths Museum contains a beautifully restored fifth century bath house and some interesting statues and artifacts.
Side is a well established holiday resort and has a wide selection of shopping opportunities, bars and restaurants to suit the very cosmopolitan collection of holidaymakers who visit the area.
The bustling, colorful streets leading down to the sea offer bargains galore. There are shops selling Turkish Delight, designer jeans (both fake and real but all at lower prices than at home), handcrafted embroidery, lace table cloths and serviettes, carpets, leather goods and a wonderful selection of gold and silver jewelery. The Saturday market is also worth a visit for clothes, lace, fresh fruit and vegetables.
Beaches of Side
The beach is, of course, one of Side' main attractions, and it is hard to rival the quality of the sand or the length of the beach, with plenty of space to sunbathe even in high season. Surrounding the old city of Side there are two major beaches, to the west is the main hotel area so the beaches are busier with more activities. To the east the beach is undeveloped and much quieter - wander amongst the sand dunes and be surprised by ancient ruins.
Although these two beaches are not far away from each other the characteristics are very different. Especially the west beach which is very safe and shallow, is very popular. Both beaches are quite busy in the high season and offer many sporting facilities like parasailing, waterskiing, diving, fishing, boat tours etc. But if you prefer some peace and quiet, walk a little further and the crowds thin out.
Activities in Side
Rafting in Koprulu Kanyon
Within the Koprulu Canyon National Park, Koprucay is among the most breathtaking rafting centers
in the country.
Manavagat River rushes powerfully over the rocks, and offers excellent rafting opportunities.
There are a couple of agencies in the city who organize trips, including transport and equipment.
Mountaineering in Taurus:
The Beydag mountain range has peaks ranging from 600 - 3086 m,
with a variety of geological and typographical features and offer a wide range of climbing opportunities.
Horse Riding in the Sorgun Forests
There are lots of horse farms located in Sorgun, which are also offering riding lessons for beginners.
In Sorgun, 350-year-old pine trees form a green canopy providing pleasant shade while you ride around. The foliage also gives natural shelter to the various species of animals and plants living there. It is only 5 min. drive from Side town centre.
Diving and Water Sports
Various points of Antalya's coastline provide opportunities for diving.
Wrecks have formed very interesting habitats and amphores are widespread.
There are lots of water sports & activities offered on the west and the east beaches of Side: Paragliding, jetskiing, waterskiing, windsurfing, etc.
Skiing in Saklikent
Within the province of Antalya is a ski centre at Saklikent, in the Beydag mountain range, at 1850m. Because of its close proximity to Antalya, it is one of the few places in the world that people can ski in the mornings, then swim in the sea in the afternoon.
There are two ski lifts, restaurants, and accommodation available. The skiing season runs between January and April. The resort can be reached from the centre of Antalya by bus, taxi or a hotel service vehicle in one hour.
Geography: The altitude for the skiing areas is between 2000-2400m, with a snow depth between 0.5-1m and a short season.
Facilities: There is a pension with 14 beds, a restaurant, café and local coffee-houses. There are two T-bars, and two ski runs at easy/moderate level.
